🕉 Lord Rama's Punjab Connection: Love Unveiled in Small Town Kharar, S.A.S. Nagar District 🌾

Embarking on a journey through the quaint streets of Kharar, nestled in the heart of S.A.S. Nagar District, the tale of love unfolds at Ajj Sarovar, echoing the timeless connection between Lord Rama and this serene town.

👑 Maharaj Aja, Lord Rama's Grandfather: In the celestial tapestry of Kharar's history, Maharaja Aja's love for Vidarbha princess Indumati transcended mortal realms. Indumati, born on earth due to a sage's curse, found redemption when Sage Narada's Veena garland touched her. Yet, their love story took a tragic turn as Indumati returned to her celestial abode, leaving Aja in inconsolable grief.

📜 Raghuvamsha's Melody: The eloquent verses of Kalidasa's "Raghuvamsha" beautifully capture Aja's early life, his celestial marriage, and the heart-wrenching sorrow that defined his existence. This classical Indian poet immortalized the tale, etching it into the very soul of Kharar's heritage.

🏰 Chinta Haran Temple: Standing tall next to Ajj Sarovar is the Chinta Haran Temple, a testament to the rich history of this place. Legend has it that both the temple and the lake were built by Maharaj Aja himself.

📜 Historical Orders: In 1926, J.W. Fairlie engraved orders banning fishing and boating in the Big Tank (Ajj Sarovar). Little did he know that this inscription would be the sole remnant of the ancient tank, believed to be at least 20 centuries old.

🏛 Ram Ghat's Timeless Stone: Let's not forget the significance of the historic stone from 1812, now embedded in the walls of Ram Ghat at Ajj Sarovar. A testament to the philanthropy of Lala Bihar Lal's family, it adds yet another chapter to the storied heritage of this sacred site.

🏞 Ajj Sarovar: Where Love Resides: As you stroll along the shores of Ajj Sarovar today, envision the love that once graced this sacred land. The ancient lake, named after Maharaja Aja, bears witness to a love that defied earthly boundaries and set the stage for the grand legacy of Lord Rama.

🌺 A Glimpse into Lord Rama's Roots: Ajj Sarovar isn't just a picturesque lake; it's a living testament to the roots of Lord Rama's lineage. From Aja's profound grief to the birth of his son Dasharatha, the threads of this love story weave into the very fabric of Lord Rama's epic narrative.

🌟 Cherishing Heritage in Kharar: Join me in cherishing the heritage of our small town, where every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered. As we share the beauty of Ajj Sarovar, let's celebrate the love that binds us to Lord Rama's legacy and the rich tapestry of our Punjab connection.

The Fazilka district authorities have cancelled the plots allotted by panchayat on the land of century-old Badha lake in Badha village and ordered to revive the water body within six months.
In response to an RTI application, the office of the additional deputy commissioner (development), Fazilka, revealed that during investigation last month by the then ADC, Sagar Setia, it was found that the 5-5 marla plots to 69 people were allotted arbitrarily and executed in an unlawful manner and as a result, they stand revoked.
"Within six months, the old Badha lake at the site must be revived under MNREGA and the allotment of plots be revoked," Setia had ordered before his posting as ADC, Ferozepur, few days back.
The orders were on Friday implemented by the Fazilka administration.
Navdeep Asija, secretary (GWAF), one of the torch bearers working to revive the lake, said that on the occasion of 11th Anand Utsav, an annual environment festival of Fazilka region organized by Graduates Welfare Association Fazilka, (GWAF), citizens of Fazilka will gather for bhoomi pooja to start the revival work of Old Badha Lake at Fazilka on August 11.
Manoj Tripathi, an advocate, said that due to unplanned development and by diverting the water, this lake dried up which affected the ecology of the area badly and has left many such smaller horseshoe lakes on its banks dry.
"The lake-bed is now listed as panchayat land in the local revenue department's documents and has been leased out for cultivation. The ground water level has gone down to 40 m below the level," he said.

Fazilka admn comes up with project ‘Kitab’, launches three libraries to develop reading habit among children

July 1, 2022 in Chandigarh
The Fazilka district administration in southwest Punjab last week launched three state-of-the-art libraries with internet access as part of its unique project called 'Kitab' to provide students with a convenient environment for studies and help them prepare for competitive exams. The district sharing a border with Pakistan has traditionally been devoid of facilities such as libraries and high-speed internet and the new libraries, launched on National Reading Week, would address the shortfalls, the administration hopes.

Deputy commissioner Dr Himanshu Aggarwal said: "These libraries will provide wings to the dreams of youngsters preparing for competitive exams. So far more than 150 youths have registered online to become members of these libraries and other aspirants have also responded on the online portal overwhelmingly."

Rs 4.5 lakh has been spent on adding books alone in these libraries, said the district administration. Students can take membership at a monthly fee of Rs 200 which would provide them internet access as well.

Additional deputy commissioner (development) Sagar Setia, who with the help of the deputy commissioner, initiated the project said that the three libraries were launched at Red Cross Bhawan Fazilka, Azimgarh in Abohar by municipal corporation Abohar and Jhorar Khera village bordering Rajasthan by the rural development department.
,
"Online registration membership of these libraries can be done and so far more than 260 youngsters have registered in just three days." At Fazilka, the already existing library has been renovated while in Abohar and Jhorar Khera new libraries were constructed. The libraries are open from 7.30 am-8 pm and as of now at all time slots, they are fully occupied by students," he said.

Aggarwal said: "We aim to impart knowledge through books and information technology. The initiative intends to create equity by giving equal opportunities to the destitute children and youth. It is envisaged to abridge the digital divide and it will create space for the people for lifelong self-education."

Two computers have been installed at Abohar and Jhorar Khera villages while three at Fazilka. Digital library facilities will be available at these portals and one can study through the Diksha portal or other portals for school curriculum as well, said authorities. "Many courses have gone online these days, hence we can assist students in completing their online courses in these libraries after getting a time slot allotted for the classes," said the deputy commissioner.

Neetu, a student of Jhorar Khera village said: "I enjoy studying in the library. The environment is good and I get better concentration to study and also to get additional information through available books."

Setia added that the literacy rate in this border district is 86 percent which is higher than the national average and 40 percent of the population in the district belongs to SC/ST category. Thousands of children were preparing for competitive exams but there was no place for them to sit and prepare for the exam.

New Delhi, March 3
India has said that its on-going projects including Pakal Dul, Kiru and Lower Kalnai were fully compliant with the Indus Waters Treaty, signed between India and Pakistan in 1960.

India's submission came at the three-day meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC) composed of Indus Commissioners of India and Pakistan which concluded in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Commission also discussed the exchange of hydrological and flood data. Both sides discussed the issue of the Fazilka drain, and Pakistan assured that all necessary actions will continue to be taken to ensure the free flow of Fazilka drain into the river Sutlej.

The Indian delegation was led by PK Saxena, the Indian Commissioner for Indus Waters. Under the provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty signed between India and Pakistan in 1960, the two Commissioners are required to meet at least once every year, alternately in India and Pakistan. The last meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC) was held from March 23-24, 2021 in New Delhi.

"The meeting was held in a cordial manner. Both the Commissioners reaffirmed their commitment to interact more frequently in an attempt to resolve issues through bilateral discussions under the treaty. It was agreed to hold the next meeting in New Delhi on mutually convenient dates,'' stated a MEA statement.
