Punjab announces ''Girdawri'' in flood affected areas

Chandigarh, Sep 21 (PTI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asked Revenue Secretary to direct concerned Deputy Commissioners to carry out ''Girdawri'' (revenue assessment) to assess the loss caused to crops by floods in order to disburse adequate compensation to affected farmers in Muktsar and Fazilka.He today visited ten flood affected villages in the Malout sub division of Muktsar district and eight villages in Fazilka district, said an official release.Badal also announced to depute a nodal officer in each flood affected village to compile a comprehensive report on the problems faced by the residents, damage caused to crops and house property due to recent floods.He also directed the officers of Food and Civil Supplies department to ensure immediate supply of ration to the affected families. The Chief Minister also asked the Chief Engineers of PWD and drainage departments to immediately undertake the repair of damaged roads and other public installations, besides de-watering of water logged areas.
